Spotlight: November 2018 (Part Two)
Welcome to part two of SABÉ Spotlight, where we take you on a culinary tour and show off some of the finest SABÉ cocktail/food pairings we find. From Vietnamese to Mexican and from Japanese to Spanish, SABÉ cocktails pair beautifully with virtually any cuisine. Here are some of our favorites for this month:
1. BRODARD RESTAURANT
Brodard Restaurant recently opened a new restaurant in Fountain Valley, offering a fantastic array of traditional and modern Vietnamese food that pairs beautifully with SABÉ cocktails. The decor is modern and elegant, and the diverse menu offers something for everyone.
Featured here are crispy rice cakes filled with shrimp, mung beans and scallions, flavored with a dash of turmeric served with Asian greens and lime chili fish sauce, and a delicious SABÉ Cucumber Refresher on the side. Other popular menu items include their pork rolls (Nem Nuớng Cuốn) and their Spicy Beef Salad (Gỏi Bò).
Perhaps most fascinating about the restaurant is its unique history. Its owner is Diane Dang, whose family are third-generation owners of a popular French bakery, Hoa Binh, in the coastal town of Nha Trang, Vietnam. After she relocated to America, Ms. Dang opened a French bakery of her own. And as she began introducing traditional Vietnamese dishes to her customers at the bakery, it began its evolution into one of California’s most popular Vietnamese restaurants.
2. CABO TACO BAJA GRILL
Located in La Marada, Cabo Taco Baja Grill offers an eclectic modern take on Mexican cuisine. All of the expected options are present (their menu includes nachos, burritos, tacos, enchiladas), but by bringing new cuisines and flavors into the mix, the result is a fascinating culinary journey.
Their street taco selection in particular is a literal tour of the world, including jerk chicken, Korean beef, Buffalo chicken and – pictured here – the sweet pig tacos. The sweet pig tacos feature tender pork tossed in a sweet mango puree then topped with spicy mango salsa, served on corn tortillas, and pair perfectly with the refreshing SABÉ Strawberry Margarita.
Frozen Strawberry Margarita
1 cup ice
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
3 oz SABÉ Blanco

Add to blender and blend until smooth.
